Back To School

This is the first year in about 18 years that I haven't had to stress about a first day of school outfit, and quite honestly I missed that feeling. As ridiculous as it seems the first outfit of the year always felt like it was a fortune cookie of sorts. If you had an awesome outfit, that school year was gonna rock. If you didn't, well, sometime that year you were probably going to fart in front of the guy you liked. All that to say, since I didn't get to choose my outfit this year, I'll post what I would've liked to have worn. Happy schoolin!

1. TopShop Blazer, a blazer paired with heels makes shorts feel academically appropriate. At least for a college campus. You might get some looks but hey at least you're not wearing sweats, a head band, & self tanner to class *shudder*.
2. DIY Galaxy Shorts, I'll be making these very soon, to make all the hipsters fall in love.
3. Polyvore Swing Tank, every other piece makes a pretty big statement so keep the shirt chill. Did I just say chill? Ugh I'm so old.
4. Sam Edelman Spiked Heels, these suckers look like they could weigh 10 lbs each, and looks can be deceiving, but in this case looks are telling the straight up truth.
5. IPad purse, to hold the most important tool in your educational career. Just make sure to bring an extra sheet of paper and a pen- there's always going to be the one teacher that is infuriated by your technological superiority. "Wow big deal, call me out on it!"
6. F21 Cosmetic Bag, to avoid getting pens, lotion, and random make up things all over your purse.
7. Revlon Lip Butter, the only make up worth retouching through the day.
8. Altoids, for the freshest of all breath.

p.s. Look how adorable Lily is! She's rocking that tribal print in the best possible way.

DIY Nightstand Revamp

Hey Bettys! Guess what?! I spray painted my nightstand!
It was my first major spray paint project and I think it was
quite the success! I was so excited I didn't even wait the
mandatory 4 hours for it to dry and had it in my room
within 2. And while it did make me infinitely happy it also
may have made me infinitely loopy. Watch out for those fumes.
Before:
After:
It took me about 4 cans of spray paint, but the real
genius of it all came together in the hardware. I didn't
really want to replace it so I stole this idea from a
previous post >Brooch Revamp< and went to town
with a coral nail polish.

This was a super easy and relatively fast project. Both
of which I value in a DIY. Mostly because I am both
unskilled and lazy.
Hope you're inspired!

Instagram

Hey Bettys! I know I've been MIA for a while since my life
has been making crazy looptee loops! So here, have some
Instagram photos to help pass the time. My vaca is nearing
it's end and perhaps then, when things slow down I can be
a little more consistent. Sorry bettys!

Packing Day Outfit

[shorts&ring:F21,shoes:Payless,belt:Target]
Hey Bettys, just a short one today. It's packing day
so everything is cray cray. (Including my wiley hairs!)
Nevertheless I'm trying to cheer myself by wearing
bright colors. Who says you can't pack all of your
belongings and still rock a mullet shirt. I found this one
at JC Penny for $17. What a steal! Hope you're all
have a fantastic summer day!

DIY Neon Brooches

Hey Bettys! News flash: Neon is one of summer's most
popular trends. So when I saw a new way to re-vamp
old brooches, I hopped on the chance to incorporate more
neon into my accessories. This DIY takes max 10 minutes to do and you probably have everything necessary to create it.

I feel like I'd insult your intelligence by adding captions to
these pictures. So instead I'll sum it up in a sentence: Get a
brooch, paint it with nail polish.

Heat-less Summer Curls

Summer time can get really busy with family vacations,
summer assignments (for us unfortunate people),
and other activities. This hair tutorial is quick and
easy and happens to works amazingly on any type
of hair length. This super easy method for summer curls
can be worn down or used to start out a cute up do.
This heat-free method is less expensive than a curling
iron and far healthier (of course.) Ladies with thick hair-
don’t worry.  I probably have the thickest hair ever
and I only needed one package (they come in 10),
these are perfect for any hair length.

What you need:
* wide tooth comb
* flexi-rods- Ulta Beauty Supply
* flexible & lightweight Hairspray
* metal clips or bobby pins to section off hair
*good spray bottle
Start with air dried hair. Split your hair in half from  the back.
Then, separate the hair into 5 equal size sections on each side
and clip each on top of the head with clip.Take a good
spray bottle and mist your hair from far away. This is just the
right amount of water so that the hair can dry overnight. Comb
through with a thin comb to distribute the water evenly
 through the section.
Now, take the curlers and wrap the hair around it. Make
sure to leave gaps between each wrap so that the curl
will look more natural. After all the hair is wrapped
around tightly, carefully fold the top of the curler inwards
and do the same on the bottom. Be sure to catch the
end of the hair, or the hair will unravel itself.
After putting in all the curlers, go to bed and let the curlers stay until morning ( A good 8 hours will do perfectly). In the morning, once the hair is completely dry, unwrap the hair from the curlers and voila! You have achieved
no heat curls!

To loosen them up a bit, spray your hand with hairsprayand pull the curls down. Now, I have tried every type of heat-less curls method, and they NEVER stay in for longer than a few hours; regardless of the amount of hairspray and gel I put in.But these curlers work like a charm every time and they need very minimal hairspray. So say goodbye to burnt and damaged hair and helloto fabulous curls!

Pinspiration

Pinspiration, not be confused with perspiration is what I'm calling
posts that are comprised of things I find on Pinterest that are kick
butt. This finals week was totally calm until about 3:30 yesterday
when I almost missed my only final exam. Since then I've been
getting massive writer's block concerning a 10 page paper.
Try not to envy me too much, and I'll try not to perish
 from exhaustion.

These are just a couple things that I'm starting to do/wear
now that my buzzed head has turned me into a 1/2 G.I.Jane.
Ultra feminine dresses, delicate jewelry, floral printed heels,
pastel nail polish, and using old timey phrases like "My
darling boy." Hopefully the combination of these things will
remind people that despite the fact that I've got steps, I'm
still a girly girl.
p.s. back to the old grindstone that has turned
into a millstone 'round my neck. SAVE ME!

Bzzzzz

I had a pretty fantastic weekend (starting Wednesday,
if that counts) due to a pleasant visit from two of my most
favorite people in the world: Maria and Meggie. We had
some really memorable events that I trust we will never
forget and talk about in years to come. On the last day
of their visit things got a little crazy; Jane bought some adorable
floral smoking slippers, Meggie bought a super ace jumpsuit,
and oh yes, I BUZZED THE SIDE OF MY HEAD.

The Weekend

Just a few pictures that show what I
was up to this weekend. Mostly it
involved puppy sitting and nature:
