How to: Wrap a Scarf

When it comes to winter you best believe I'm sippin on the hatorade. There is almost nothing I hate more than being cold! In addition blistering cold, I also don't like to be told what to do. And you better believe when you wake up in 20 below snow packed weather the world is telling you, "You put on those flats, you die." There are however some stylistic perks. Scarves! I absolutely adore them. Wool, cashmere, infinity, normal human kind, you name it. But recently it has come to my attention that some people have trouble actually tying scarves. So the following is a tutorial on how to tye a scarf in a very basic way.
p.s. thanks Meggie for modeling!
1. Hold the scarf like so, with one end shorter than the other.
2. Wrap one end around your head.
3. Pull the end you've wrapped in Step 2, up through the loop that you've created.
4. Pull the other (so far untouched) end over and through the loop.

And viola! You've got yourself a pretty decently wrapped scarf. You may now face the ravages of winter with a gleam in your eye and little pizazz wrapped round your stately neck....too much, Eli, too much.

Look For Less Lunes: Christina Ricci

In keeping with holiday chat, a few of us were discussing some childhood Halloween movies. Casper came up as a favorite, and it got me thinking about Christina Ricci. Most people don't really consider her a style icon but something about her quirky, sweet, yet rock and roll vibe makes me dig her. Yeah I said dig, so sue me.
Now I couldn't resist the urge to make this a little less casual, because well, I'm crazy.
By adding some sparkle to the sneaks and adding the cardigan in a shawl silhouette you can feel less like a silly teenager who doesn't know how to drive! ... (sorry, its just that I nearly got killed by 3 of those today) and more like a classy lady on a casual day.

Look For Less Lunes: One for The Boys

In reviewing my FB page for the blog the other day, I realized that much of my fan base appears to be men. Hmmm...I really aught to throw them a bone every once in while I thought to myself. So here's a bone, being thrown in your direction boys. Fall is officially here and a lot you guys have trouble figuring out what to layer and when and with what and where. Inspired by the Paul Smith Fall 2011 collection I put together a little ensemble for you boys, and get this: you can buy it all on one website. Yeah I know you can thank me later. kiss kiss!
This look is totally cool for fall, except that with that beard and hair the man looks like a hobo. Skip the hobo vibe, substitute the undershirt for a relaxed and colorful T, lose the unnecessary suit jacket (you know you're not going anywhere THAT important), and you'll take this look from the runway to your sidewalk.

1. 21Men Cable Knit Jacket $34.90
2. 21Men Slim Fit Jeans $33.90
3. 21Men Classic V-Neck $5.90
4. Lace Up Suedette Shoes $36.90

all found at www.forever21.com

p.s. I'm serious about the hobo thing guys. I can really get behind a beard and long hair on a bro. But please PLEASE groom both, otherwise I'll probably be handing you change instead of my number.

Whimsy

I love having the cutest friends in the whole entire world!
I love dressing them even more, its like having life sized Barbies!
Like that one Tyra Banks movie...
Meggie is the best Barbie ever, the girl will wear anything I ask her to.
She loved this outfit so much, she took it off after the shoot and said,
"I really want to wear this...but not enough people are going to see me today so I'll just have to wait."
We do this all the time, wear something awesome and then just because no one we care about will see us we'll save it for later. Don't pretend like you don't do the same thing.

I hope you're all having the best week ever! This week has been friend filled for me.
Last night we had a small chili party. We made Blue Ribbon Winning chili
(wasn't as good as it should've been) and watched endless episodes of Storage Wars.
I love that we can do the weirdest stuff and still manage to have the best time
with each other. And after a great night, its off to the real world filled with
Research Methods III, cleaning, stress, and rain. Good thing I love rain :)

Not So Tough Girl

I'm baaaaaaack.
With new glasses! So I've been trying to wear my glasses more than my contacts lately in hopes that i'll get less migraines. However, my glasses were super lame so, thanks to a limited budget and www.zennioptical.com I got these cat eye beauties for 40 smackers!
They have made it very strange to get dressed in the morning however because for some reason I feel like I should be confined to 50s style clothing. So in hopes to cure myself of such a miserable trap I came up with this Elvis Costello meets Sex Pistols meets whhaaaaa??? look.

To quote the CD currently in my car, "Put another X on the calendar, summer's on its death bed" Ahh Panic at the Disco!, such wisdom. But fa reals ya'll, fall is here and its exciting! Fall brings exciting new wardrobe mash-ups that come from the likes of layering, boots, scarves, chunky sweaters and a plethora of other things that will be coming to the blog soon. Let's revel in the glory of fall until the doom of winter befalls us!
I hope you're enduring the cold with style and grace.

Football Fashion

This post may come as a shock to some of you, as I have never really been a sports fan. The problem with not being into sports is, turns out boys like them. So over the past year and half I've actually been watching a lot of different sports and learning to appreciate them as much for their individual player's back stories as much as for the intensely raw displays of athleticism. This cultivated interest in sports (created shamelessly to please those of the opposite sex) has actually proven to be quite fascinating.
More specifically I saw a fabulous (yes fabulous) football uniform on ESPN today. I innocently commented on the striking resemblance the players had to superheroes, and my compadre immediately jumped in with some interesting information. As it turns out, Nike has launched a new line (do they even call them lines?) of football uniforms. This new Pro-Combat Uniform line happens to be the most fashion forward I've seen sports be. The uniforms come complete with slogans for each college, and are not only highly efficient but totally, well, cool is really the only word.
But enough talk, below are my top three favorite uniforms:

#3 LSU Tigers. RAWR.
Slogan: "Cochon De Lait"
Fab Feature: Eye of the Tiger gloves
--By the way, these gloves are extra sticky creating added
friction when they come in contact with the ball.
A plus on the field? Sha duh.--

#2 Bosie State Broncos
Fab Feature: Consistently crisp white color throughout the uniform,
hope they have plenty of Tide Stain Release.
--The fabric used in the leg and hip regions is called Deflex.
This fabric features ease of breathability and sweat Deflexing (heehee) properties.
Not only that but the fabric allows for free movement without bulk while most importantly protecting the player's, ahem, important assets.--

#1: Oregon Ducks
Fab Feature: p.s.  new matte v. old shiny helmet- LOVE.
--Oh and those lime green cleats?
They're are the first cleats ever to have traction that adapts to the player's activity.
This new traction system will allow for maximum speed, like the flash!--

These are only 3, of the many fabulous designs that we'll be seeing more of this season. What amazed me, while researching these uniforms, was the great fervor with which some are fighting against the new designs. Some call them down right offensive, while others deem them unfit to lay eyes on. What is perhaps only more surprising is the passion that others have for the new uniforms. When I say passion I mean...well one guy put it this way, "The reality is that nike pro combat uniforms are the safe-to-view-at-work equivalent of pornography for millions of men, ..." Yeah, that's what I said too. And while clearly this guys is some kind of Pro-Combat extremist (that sounds more political than it should) I can assure you that I was literally looking at the uniforms for hours. Aaaand at the risk of sounding way too involved, I'll wrap it up.
These new uniforms are definitely gonig to add a new dimension to my growing appreciation for sports, and hopefully you enjoy looking at them on field as much as I (and apparently millions of men) do.

White Jeans..duh

(Jeans&Jacket Gap, Thrifted Belt, F21 Earrings, PacSun Rings, Bracelets c/o Mami!)

I'm such a deal hound it's insane. I can't even remember the last time I bought something full price. It hurts me in the deepest parts of my soul when I buy something that's over 30 dollars.
Most people don't believe, so for evidence I shall state only this: the shoes pictured? Yeah TJMaxx -$1.00, I'm talking brand new people. And those jeans? Gap-$11.00. In all my entire outfit comes to about $40.00, MAX.
Be thrifty  (after all, this is a recession)  and be fabulous!
