DIY: Mullet Skirt

I finally did it! At last I've sewed something with a sewing

 machine and it didn't look like a mangled piece of fabric

run through a meat grinder! I've been wanting a mullet skirt

 for so long, but after searching for what seemed like eternity

in this barren wasteland of fashion, I decided to make

 my own.

Thanks to Fabi of Third World Fashionista I got a great

tutorial in 5 easy steps! I'm not even kidding this is the

easiest alteration known to man. I won't make my own

tutorial because her's is fabulous the way it is- check it out:

I've been a long time fan of Fabi, and am an even greater fan

now due the success of this DIY. Don't be afraid to try it

yourself!

Blog the Dog: DIY Puppy Sweater

I'm introducing a new segment to the blog because of
a very special addition to my circle of closest friends.
Meet Lt. Dan, or better known around these parts
as "Weeno." He's the cutest little thing on four legs!
(besides of course my precious baby Sophie)

The Ween and I have been spending a lot of time
together since we picked him up a couple days
ago and it would just be a crime against humanity if
I didn't share pictures of the little guy. So once a week
I'll do a "Blog the Dog" post to honor this little fella.

 Gather your materials. All you will need is thread, a needle,
scissors, and part of a sweater sleeve. Make sure it's made
of stretchy material. I used one that was acrylic and wool.

 Cut a slit on either side of the sleeve's seam. From your
initial slit cut out two panels, you will fold them under and
sew.

 Once the two flaps are folded under, use a basic stitch
to sew around the edges of each leg hole.

 Fold the bottom of the sleeve under and sew it
with the same stitch you used to sew leg holes.
Remember to leave the front part shorter than
the back (like a mullet) to allow for potty time.

 Be sure to embellish your pup's new garb so they
can strut around in style! I used velvet trim from
the cardigan and its buttons to embellish the Ween's
first sweater!

Product Review: Pure Clean by Garnier Fructis

 This past week, I took a trip to Ulta beauty supply store

 (my favorite). I saw this shampoo and its Pure &Clean line 

on several advertisements and decided to give it a try. As it 

turns out, it is THE BEST shampoo I have ever tried! To me, 

it was a cleansing shampoo. It definitely cleansed my hair
from all the products I had used for the past couple of days
 and made my hair feel lighter. 

However, the best part is the smell! If you like DKNY’s 

Be Delicious perfume, you will LOVE this shampoo. It smells 

like a harvest of fresh apples. Now, usually, I don’t like my 

hair to smell like the shampoo I have used, but this is a 

TOTAL exception. I have also gotten a ton of compliments,
which is never a bad thing! To me, there are no cons

 to this product and is totally affordable. The line can be
purchased at a local drugstore. If you have been looking
 for a shampoo that will exfoliate your hair of all the product
 build up, I highly recommend giving this a try. If you have any

I've been making inspiration boards quite a bit of late
(you probably noticed if you "like" the FB page). Its
nothing I can help, they're just loads of fun! The basic
idea is to just gather pictures of things you love and
collage them. Its instantly inspiring! For this particular
board I decided to throw some things up for little girls!
The clothes they have for little kids now are just phenom
and honestly its just not fair most of them aren't made
in "real human size." The pieces here are PERF for spring
and pretty much self explanatory but I will say this, if
you put your kid in a mullet skirt you WILL become my
instant hero. Straight up.

Stripes and Polka Dots

Boo hoo for life, the sun is gone. But no one could ever

tell from this picture! I can't wait for another sunny day

so we can wear dresses again. Alas, it shall never be!

(side note: can anyone name the blog that featured the

bracelet on the left as a DIY?)

 Tip: With a simple color palette like this one, you

can mix patterns like the bold stripe of the dress 

with the less striking polka dot pattern of the purse.

Color Blocking and the SUN!

Saturday, for the first time in what seems like ages the sun 

came out! We carpe'd the diem and set out on an adventure 

doing anything and going anywhere so long as we were outside!

So, thanks to the sun and consequent warmth for letting our 

bare naked leggies see the light of day.

 I like to imagine

 that winter is like damp, dark, medieval prison to legs. Once the

 jeans come off and the shorts take their turn, legs are forced to

 shield their delicate eyes so that the searing brightness of the sun 

doesn't blind them. The metaphor may be too involved but I think

I've made my point. Luckily, we had THIS amazing product, to

keep our legs from looking to vampirical.

Even though color-blocking has been circulating through fashion

 for a couple seasons now, spring brings on a fresh new batch 

of colors for us to play with! This pink sweater and cropped

 red pants from Gap go perfectly together for a look that is trendy

 but sweet.

A patterned scarf and a fuchsia lip is all we needed to make this 

outfit command attention. As if the red heels weren't already doing 

that!
